Hi CB. I mentioned many times on feelies that I went to Catholic school for 10 years. The Principal of Pius X High School in Milwaukee, who was a Jesuit priest, strongly suggested to my parents that it would be in the best interests of everybody that I not return my Junior year. I was always asking questions like I asked you, but in classrooms. In other words, I was an incorrigible, who should have been stoned to death if those who profess to believe that the Bible is God's word would have acted out his instructions.

How do you, or the priest that you admire, determine which passages in the Bible are not quite what God had intended them to write? I could have quoted many more that were similar. Did all of the authors get it wrong, or what. And if some of it doesn't accurately describe God's intentions, how do you know the rest of it does?

<< I share your revulsion with the way that God is depicted in the passage you quote. I suspect almost everyone does. Many people have believed that God wanted them to kill people, and claimed divine inspiration, but they were wrong. It is completely antithetical to the teachings of Christ. >>

How are you so certain that the passage isn't just as God intended it to be written? Of course many times people have used such passages to justify killing. That's why I despise religion. The harm that it has caused people to do far outweighs the good it does. I'm sure that some of the lurkers here wouldn't mind seeing me snuffed.

BTW, wasn't I taught that Jesus was God, or did I get that wrong? If there are contradictions in the way God and Jesus are portrayed in the Bible, it's not for me to explain.
