Sarmad -

Last year I did not collect near as much information as I do now. However, over 50% of the drives I followed dropped in price in mid-December. Prices stayed stable until the end of January when they started dropping again. I remember CEO statements on conference calls saying it was unusual for the demand to last through January.

Although the pricing looks good now it could change next week. I can't project stable prices though next quarter. If the pricing did remain stable though next quarter. We would see the losses stop and many drive stocks should normalize from these bargain base prices.

The earnings for this quarter should surprise on the upside. Maxtor has already introduced this news but they have been helped by first to market with profitable 10gb platters. If the stable pricing is an indicator of demand, we will hear good things about the drive industry next month.

Regards,
Mark
