ALL: . . . . . . . .And speaking of the "New Millenium" . . . . . . .
I am sure that you guys realize that this is a "calendar event". . . but is merely the final year of millenium 2. . . .remember there was no year 0 B.C or 0 A.D. . . .so at the end of 1 A.D. we celebrated "2". . . .yet only one year had passed A.D. or in the Common Era [C. E.]. Fast forward and our celebration of 2000 represents the completion of 1999 years A.D. At the end of this next year, we will have completed 2000 years. .. .and more importantly, we will be starting the "new millenium". . .beginning on January 1, 2001.

Better save those party hats and noise makers!!

An easy way to think of it is that when counting from 1 to 10 . . . 1 is the first year of the decade and 10 is the final year of the decade. . . . the next decade doesn't actually begin until 11. . .OOPS. . . all those celebrations have been off by 1.

For the year 2000 to have been the start of a new millenium. . .we would have needed a year of 0 A.D. prior to year 1 A.D. . . .and it is way too late for a do over.

So we are about to celebrate the "calendar year 2000". . . but not 2000 years since Christ's death, nor the "new millenium". . . . or as I like to call it, M 3. That would be next year.

But you guys all knew that. . .right?
