Hi Antdood,
Do you mind if I give my unbiased view of NT?

NT has a long history with the telecom service providers as well as a decent history in the enterprise. If you go to a service provider (bell atlantic, pacbell, AT&T) you are going to see either NT or LU switches in 90% of the installations in the U.S. Internationally, NT is much stronger than LU.

and

There is a convergence taking place to combine voice, video and data on to one network. This is happening in both the enterprise and service providers. LU and NT are coming at it from a more voice centric point of view and CSCO is coming at it from a data centric point of view. In my opinion, NT has drank the koolaid on the convergence concept as evidenced by their purchase of Bay Networks. LU still does not have a meaningful presence in the enterprise for data networks. NT does have a significant presence and is strong in other areas as well such as optical and VPNs.

NT does have a couple of strikes against it. It has a PE of 600+, a large percentage of the company is owned by the Canadian government. And in some areas, they are not as advanced as people may think (voice/data convergence comes to mind).

NT is a great company, but they lose a lot of their talent to companies that have better compensation packages. It would be very hard to lure somebody away from a silicon valley based company to work at NT.
