Furthur Festival Returns To Summer Fare

After a one-year absence, the fourth installment
of the Furthur Festival will be launched this summer, according to
promoter John Scher.

"Bob Weir and Mickey Hart are committed to
performing together," he says. They are slated to headline a mix of
arenas and amphitheaters, and are in the process of putting a band
together, which Scher says could include some former members of the
Other Ones. "We should be able to announce the tour lineup by mid- to
late-January," he says.

The festival will follow the same format as in
1998 with four to six acts and possible acoustic performances between
set changes. The tour will run four to six weeks either from mid-June
to late July or mid-August to late September.
