BULLISH Amgen (AMGN - 52-15/16) RF Micro Devices (RFMD - 69-13/16)
We have placed RFMD on our bull list in the last couple of trading days, and we believe that it is time for the shares to make their move. Currently, the stock is trending along its 10-week moving average. This intermediate-term trendline, along with the 20-week moving average, has acted to contain drawdowns on the shares since they broke above these moving averages in July 1998. RFMD has been consolidating since mid-November in an orderly fashion. This consolidation appears to be near an end, with the stock rallying off the reliable support of its intermediate-term trendlines. Open interest is light overhead, with 1,700 contracts in total at the January and February 70 strike. The 75 strike is a concern with 4,100 contracts in the front-month and back-month series. Earnings have been consistent on RFMD. We believe that rotation back into this stock is imminent.>>
