M2, I agree about PDX. Maybe not a good long-term core holding, but worth a shot for the January effect.

I bought some this a.m.

My buys so far, to play the January effect, are:

SVM Service Master
NMGC Neomagic
PDX Pediatrix
VGSIX Vanguard REIT Index Fund

To invoke some selling discipline, I've put in limit orders to sell at 135% of my purchase price, and otherwise I expect to sell after about a week into February.

Thanks to all here who are contributing to the discussion. As you can see, half my ideas so far have come from other posters here.
