As noted in an earlier post, nearly all the teachers referred to live in Los Angeles, NYC and Tokyo -- none of these noted as good places to stretch your retirement dollars.

When my son graduated from UCLA (degree in bio-science), the LA schools offered him a probationary gig (due to qualification to teach sci or math) if he would teach in one of their hell schools and get his accreditation during a certain period.

Ha ha to that! No amount of money is going to attract good people to those systems. They are DOOMED.

It is interesting to review data attached to Kansas City's gold-plating of public schools. I seem to recall the money having no effect. Sixty Minutes (voted #1 reference source among regular Feelies posters) did a piece. Probably some info somewhere on the net. If I come across anything, I will post link.
