SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- The semiconductor sector has been all the rage this year with Intel, Motorola and other heavyweights pulling the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index to record heights.

And, in the case of RDRAM (Rambus DRAM), simply shipping the (Intel 820) chip set that supports it (See related story.), doesn?t mean that people are going to build RDRAMs. They?re expensive and you?re having Dell (DELL: news, msgs) have a difficult time dealing with the prices that they?re having to pay for old main memory. So, if you look at what that means for Intel?s mixed, if they can?t get people to build RDRAM systems, then maybe it?s marginally more difficult for them to sell the high end of their desktop skew. cbs.marketwatch.com
