I was sure that was what happened as I have the original grants from Polk in 1846 for the north 160 and Taylor in 1849 for the south 160. They were passed through Sgt. Gill whose platoon gg grandfather outfitted for the Mexican War. Each one signed by the respective President and deeded to William A. Lost a lot of money on it. Never have trusted it since.
