<<Gee, how did your great3 grandfather get James
K. Polk and Zachary Taylor.
to cooperate in giving him a farm. They were deadly enemies, you know.>>

I didn't know they were enemies, guess you caught me in a lie there. I sure wish I had such a farm but you have proven me a phoney.

I was sure that was what happened as I have the original grants from Polk in 1846 for the north 160 and Taylor in 1849 for the south 160.

They were passed through Sgt. Gill whose platoon gg grandfather outfitted for the Mexican War. Each one signed by the respective President and deeded to William A. Verry and his heirs.

<<Is your tenant banned from program membership just because the landlord won't join. >>

No, he can do whatever he wants on his own land.

<<get some of his own back by cashing in on the crooked "Freedom to Farm" benefits. It shows a nice sense of delicacy, or, as I prefer, a tendency toward self-mutilation.>>

It's called avoiding self-mutilation. In 1986 the tenant talked me into the program. Lost a lot of money on it. Never have trusted it since.
