Interesting that 5 minutes after the hot tip was posted on SI, FSTW jumped and it closed up 45%.
There is no doubt that anyone who works at CMGI is very aware that leaking this type of info is illegal. CMGI has deals going all the time, so everyone there has got to know this. Period, end of story.
True, someone might have a couple of drinks over the holidays and make a mistake, slipping some info to a friend. But they would tell their friend to keep it quiet. "You can't tell anybody, dude...."
So we're supposed to believe that he is slipped a hot tip and almost certainly told to keep it quiet, but decides on Monday to post the thing all over the internet? I mean, just how dumb are we supposed to believe this guy is?
The person who posted this has enough sophistication to open new accounts on SI and RB, and knows exactly where to go to post. And he talks about owning CMGI in a way that sounds like he has some experience in the market. This is not some innocent who just found SI yesterday.
Perhaps he's been lurking for a long time and now that he has a hot tip he decided to join up and post, all the while being so uninformed that he doesn't heed his friend's warning and doesn't realize he's violating securities laws.
Well, I guess. I've heard of stupider things.
But my guess is he bought some stock or options a while back and today drove a couple of hours to a city where he doesn't live, went to the public library, logged in, opened an SI account with a stolen credit card number and started hyping the stock. |
