unclewest,

Thanks for all the links and the info on CREE. A few posts back, MVIS (Microvision) was mentioned, which has an alliance with CREE. I haven't seen MVIS mentioned here before, but this is my nomination for a zygote gorilla.

A very small company that has by no means crossed the chasm yet, they have "heavily patented" technology that paints an image directly to a viewer's retina by a low-powered laser such that the need for a traditional screen is obviated.

800 x 600 line resolution with full-motion video, and the perception of the viewer is that he/she is looking at something the size of a 15" monitor at an arm's length.

Can you imagine what the potential for this is in military, medical, and consumer applications? There is also the potential to superimpose the real world with any visual data set that is pertinent. Supposedly, cell phones soon with this device that completely blows away the problem of the 2" screen.

Again, the company has about a $200 million market cap and has BY NO MEANS crossed the chasm, but I thought the members of this thread would like to tuck this one into the back of your minds.
