Aus, in response to your previous two posts, I am finding that the "fine" resolution setting on my Nikon 950 (which is about 1.1 mp with jpeg compression) delivers very high quality results with enlargements up to 8 x 10. I had expected earlier that I wouldn't bother with anything less than the full 2.1 mp TIFF format, but, besides the fact that writing to the CF takes a long time, the resolution of the jpeg shots is more than adequate. One conclusion is that people will be satisfied with a 1.1 mp camera, which should easily cost less than $300 in the near future, and at the same time include a good lens. Using Eli's argument that $300 is the critial point at which sales will take off, we've not seen anything yet.
Regarding Seagate, I suppose one could look on the company as a sort of Berkshire Hathaway of the disk drive market. Whereas Berkshire (i.e., Warren Buffett) concentrates on insurance, Seagate concentrates on imaging. It's nice to have a portfolio of companies on the cutting edge, but frankly, I'm a purist and would rather stick with the individual companies; namely, SanDisk.
