"Other than PCMS and DMIC, I am unaware of any
other players in the fixed part of the sector."

I think you typed without taking time to reflect.
PCMS and DMIC are among the small number of pure
plays in fixed wireless (NETRO is another) but I
believe a number of big companies have divisions
that do fixed wireless. These big companies may
not be pure plays but they are competitors.

Still, I like DMIC a lot (especially after the last
couple of days:-)... good management, broad high
quality product line, best broadband radio (Altium),
good sales force, etcetera... buyers want one vendor
who can offer them everything (actually, they want
2-3 vendors that offer fully-compatible products so
that competition will lower the price... but, lacking
that, they want to avoid having to solve operational
problems involving equipment from multiple/different
vendors... so they only have one vendor to call in
order to fix the problem). They're also cautious
about rolling out a new product... they don't
push it out the door prematurely, for doing so
would lead to costly repairs/recalls and
dissatisfied customers. Solid company.

As I said earlier, DMIC has everything but P-MP
while PCMS has nothing but P-MP. And a recent
post says that DMIC joined Intel to invest in
a company with P-MP technology... I believe that
DMIC will have P-MP when the market is really
ready to spend money for it... in the interim,
they'll sell a great many broadband fixed
wireless radios at handsome profit margins.
