TTOSBT, RE: I assumed that today is last day funds can buy to claim the winners and/or sell the losers to get rid of them to dress up their windows so to speak. Am I correct? Not correct. A mutual fund could buy a stock at 12:59 on New Year's Eve and still reflect that trade on its year end statement as long as the trade was done on a same-day settlement basis. Not easy to do for an individual, but simple for an institution like a mutual fund.
