CADENCE SYSTEMS (23-7/8, up 1-9/16 @ 10:15 am ET) and Avant
employee, Yang-Trung Lin, announced they have resolved Lin's
defamation lawsuit against Cadence, which Lin filed in the
Superior Court of California, Santa Clara County, while employed
by the Avant Corporation. ''Lin was not named as a defendant in
the civil suit brought by Cadence against Avant, and after
extensive review, Cadence has concluded that Lin was not involved
in misappropriation of Cadence trade secrets,'' said R.L. Smith
McKeithen, senior vice president and general counsel for Cadence.
''Cadence wishes Lin well in his future endeavors,'' added
McKeithen.
