I assume you mean hidden by the VCL for Delphi and C++Builder. That would be a big plus. That's what Java offers as well.

However, I do believe that even though it is still early on, eventually the stability and price of Linux, along with its evolution and gradual adoption as a viable application platform, will contribute to its increased use as a business desktop solution.

I see Linux as a viable server option today. I'm hazy on the desktop. This seems to go against the trend toward browser based clients, i.e. the Oracle/Sun model and Internet appliances...

I agree with everything you've written for the most part except for the following:

<ggg> I'm a C++ developer. I'll admit I use VC++. I use it for the most part for server side COM development i.e. no user interface. I use ATL. If I need a user interface its an html user interface or it's Delphi. I loved using Delphi. I used it long be C++Builder came out. When I saw that the components where all written in Delphi, I said why bother changing to C++Builder.
