Mondex was tested in Guelph Ontario. It failed because people couldn't figure out why they should take money out of their bank account and put it into a card that they can lose if they lose their wallet. Especially when they can use their debit cards the same way and keep their $ in their bank accounts.
The banks say they WILL go ahead with MOndex anyways but of interest is that in March of 1997 an article I read in Science Life stated that the rolling encription security code for smart cards could be broken by implanting an error and watching how it progresses....in other words you can create undetectable electronic counterfeit money on a card that people don't trust to begin with.I don't see why they should succeed at all but the Big Banks say they will push it ahead anyway...I don't know That's my measly two cents worth, just to try to contribute to the thread. Hope all of yha are well...snoog
