I invested in AVID 3 months ago, and I was also planning to buy MDEA, but didn't because of dealer reports of weak sales.

Yes, I believe that the NLE video quality battle is over. I recently shut down my Digital Betacam room, and now edit exclusively on NLE's. AVR77 is good enough to meet the standards of my most demanding primetime network broadcast clients.

The NLE battle is now being waged over the depth and quality of the toolset, in areas such as:

* Audio tools
* Realtime video effects
* Graphic tools (paint, compositing, font)
* Workgroup media storage and management

I use Avids primarily for longform broadcast work (offline and online), and also for corporate work. I use Media 100s mostly for corporate work. Both have been cost effective for me, though I own more Avids than Media 100s because there's more demand for them in my market. I'm generally indifferent to technical support issues, as we support our machines inhouse and don't often call on the manufacturer's tech support.
