Taiwan Share Prices Up Before Year-End Holidays Taipei, Dec. 28 (CNA) Taiwan share prices experienced fluctuation before the market closed Tuesday for the New Year's holiday, due to violent profit-taking after Monday's gains. The benchmark Taiwan Stock Exchange (TAIEX) weighted price index climbed 33.77 points to close at 8,448.84 on an expanded turnover of NT$193.58 billion (US$6.3 billion), with 3.68 billion shares changing hands. The year-end trading sentiment was relatively calm, in contrast to the typical emergence of heavy sales before long holidays, dealers said.
