You missed the point. The stocks with the largest percentage increases in each decade failed to maintain those rates of increase in the following decade, although they continued, for the most part, to do well and set new "record" highs for themselves. We, therefore, should never expect the kind of year we have had again, but that's not to say we won't continue to have way above average returns.
