I think the web brokers are in the IPO business to stay. Particularly with the relatively small offerings of 4 to 6 million shares. Anyone here doubt that E*Trade or Wit could have placed the entire 4.4 millions shares offered by VA Linux? I think they could have done this easily and probably with a much smaller underwriting fee than was charge by CSFB.
