On the surface, without doing DD, this acquisition appears to be a smart one, consistent with the POL deal.

Expectant mothers are a prime target of Pharmaceuticals as they are expected to purchase large volume of remedies and dietary products (think how often kids get sick) and clearly when it comes to household medicine, mothers control the purse.

This acquisition should enhance the value that Mediconsult can provide to the Pharmas.

I also like Mediconsult's approach of appointing the original founder/visionary as the CEO of the acquired company -- as they are the experts in their field. Mediconsult's strategy is to string together the most qualified content sites run by experts in their respective fields and leverage that corporately by providing marketing and systems support -- makes good sense in the long-term as this de-centralized structure will reduce overhead and bloated corporate operation.
