Hi Dawg,

If you don't mind, (I have never taken an economics class in my life), I'm just learning what the GDP *is*. Here's some of the info I've come across:

A good definition:
ingrimayne.saintjoe.edu

Actual GDP data:
enth.com

A couple thoughts and questions:

Why is it that you feel the GDP marks the outer limits of the arena in which ICGE operates?

The GDP is domestic only, right? What about the international market which is being opened up by the internet?

The GDP doesn't count the sale of second hand items. How much money are internet companies like eBay generating on the sale of second hand items?

The GDP doesn't count financial transactions such as the sale of stocks and bonds. Does this mean that the GDP doesn't include ICGE's revenues as it generates billions of dollars through IPOs?

The GDP only counts goods and services which pass through organized markets. What about circumstances where companies share and exchange information and resources like ICGE's holdings do? Certainly this generates value.

And finally, to sum up with a quote from Limitations of GDP statistics (http://ingrimayne.saintjoe.edu/econ/Measuring/GNP2.html)... "There can be very large measurement errors in our economic statistics."

I look forward to your thoughts.

Todd
