WDM technology is a reality and I believe you'll already find it in practice, see oca.com for one example. Altavista returns about 100 hits when searching for "wave division multiplexing" (use the quotes so it looks for the phrase. A good idea may be to write to these companies that are supplying the equipment and asking them which lasers they are using.
