Thank you for your response, Dan. I am currently long with a very small position. I understand that the position of the longs is as you stated, otherwise they obviously wouldn't be long. My reason for posting on this thread was to ascertain the view from the short side.

I have a great deal of respect for shorters because in a bull market, foolish shorters would be quickly wiped out. As a result, there are plenty of foolish longs in todays market, but not many foolish shorters. As a result, I always avoid companies that are fully shorted. While GUMM is not fully shorted, the short position is quite large, which to me serves as a major warning sign. Before increasing my position I would like to hear from the shorts why they are short. Only by knowing their reasons can I make a decision as to the likely merit of their position, and then a decision as to whether or not to increase my position or eliminate it.
