I've never been a big fan of comparing company valuations to justify price increases--could be that the comparison stock is overvalued. TSM is an excellent example. Have you calculated the difference between TSM on the TSE and TSM ADRs here? Last time I did (about six months ago), the ADR's were trading at an astonishing premium (> 50%). After finding out there was no way to arbitrate it myself, I eventually sold TSM.

Don't get me wrong: I think AMKR should appreciate due to its massive packaging market share. I don't see anything wrong with this company, debt aside.

A Korean friend of mine was asking for investment advice, which I hate to give to anyone I know, and I suggested AMKR as my most conservative pick (figured the downside was low--not so sure the upside is huge). I mentioned that they had recently bought ANAM's unit and he immediately expressed disinterest in it due to the Korean ties! Unexpected reaction, but not for strictly business reasons. He said they'd have profit problems due to the "corrupt government policies" (to quote). Don't know the veracity of that claim.

May I ask where you hear about "rumors of a potential coverage of a major firm in the week of Jan 10th"?

Regards,

Steve
