My key plan is to cut my time doing research, tending to my portfolio, etc. in half or better.

This dictates that I look out to the furthest horizon I can see. And that's still quite positive.

So I doubt that I'll join the crowd that decides to "take profits" in January. Might, but I doubt it.

Carl,

I don't believe there's going to be a major inventory burnoff. First less than 20% of corporations believe there will be a major Y2K impact. Second, with all the ERP and JIT systems in place, it would be very difficult for any large corporation to build an inventory or more than a few days.

Within the Equipment sector which may well be a special case, most companies are building and shipping as fast as they can. I wouldn't expect this sector to successfully add even an extra week's worth of inventory which could be easily used next year.

Further, the Y2K bugs will surface over a period of several months. IMO, as a series of minor annoyances. Any company that's built an inventory isn't likely to use it all up before the all clear is sounded. And that date will be different in every company.

And if Yardeni has any sense of shame, he'll resign and forever hang his head, totally disgraced. ;-)

Ian.
