Carl,

Might happen, but I seriously doubt it.

Personally, I stocked up on TP when Shopper's Drug Mart at the corner had 16 rolls of my favourite brand for $3.99 Cdn.

;-)

Point: Some consumers will stock up when there's a sale. Others for Y2K, others when they run out.

We can expect the lack of pricing power to continue for a few more months in spite of the Fed doing everything it can think of to wring excess capacity out of the system; choke off decisions to add new capacity while encouraging demand.
They just might cause the very inflation they're so worried about.

Personally, in my role as Santa Claus for me, I bought a pair of Trinitron Vegas, a DVD player, a Marantz (the SR880 MkII) and a new set of matched speakers for the unit (all 6 including the subwoofer). I expect to be evicted from my apartment by Tuesday. :-)

This should keep me happy while the rest of the world crumbles due to Y2K. <g>

I just have a very difficult time seeing Y2K as being a big deal for most companies.

I do accept that every ill for the next couple quarters will be blamed on it though regardless of how much incompetence led to the failure or how unrelated to Y2K it actually was.

FWIW,
Ian.
