Prolonged Negotiations

The Indian government has said that it is ready for prolonged negotiations with the hijackers of the Indian Airlines plane. After the cabinet meeting on Wednesday morning, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Mr. Pramod Mahajan said that India did not want drawn-out talks but said, "we are prepared for it." He added, "This is a battle of patience."
The cabinet will meet daily until the crisis is over. Mahajan also told reporters that Prime Minister Vajpayee has also instructed his ministers not to leave New Delhi until then. The Indian Air Force Chief, Air Marshall A.Y. Tipnis, also attended the meeting
