OK, cool. Here's where I get to brag how good my 1986 VW has been to me. It's got 375,950km or almost 234k miles, the engine is all original and I almost always drive it hard. The engine still starts easily in any conditions and runs smoothly.

Today I finally changed the oil and filter as I've been prolonging that task for a while now (22,500km or 14,000 miles with only 1 bottle of oil added since last oil change)! Of course I always use synthetic oil and Bosch filters. This time around I treated it to 5W50 synthetic, Canadian Tire's finest house-brand oil.

Before I got started with the oil change my Dad was curious to learn the results of a quick compression test. We tested only 1 cylinder (3 times just to make sure), it tested to 160 PSI! FYI, the compression pressure spec for new engines is between 131 and 174 PSI. I think this one's a keeper.
