From the consumer electronic show in VEGAS....

The market for Internet music already is thriving. Forrester Research says more than 5 million MP3 players have been downloaded to date, while the International Federation of Phonographic Industries estimates that 3 million audio tracks are downloaded from the Internet every day.

Until content, copyright and standard issues are resolved, sales probably will be strong but erratic. Forrester Research expects the digital download market to hit $1.1 billion by 2003, with unit sales of portable MP3 players reaching 1 million in 1999 and 32 million by 2003.

Don't miss seeing the latest MP3 and other PC audio innovations at CES.
