One can only wonder what investment community thinks of IW these days. It is pretty straight forward when you deal with Bell Atlantic, the price tag jumped to 17.75 at one point, throw in a Phone.com alliance and stock doesn't react at all, strange since Aether today on the same news went up 12%. Oh well, one may say, yet we have seen this a lot lately. Once again with RAM agreement when IW actually went down, agreement which opened door to Europe, agreement with subsidiary of BellSouth only 7th communications' company in the world??? Is this typical Canadian conservative valuation? Didn't recognition of WIN and CIC and SW signal end of this attitude? On the third occasion, Glenayre, about two weeks ago, released a proclamation of war, powering up in 2-way paging with their flagship AccessLinkII pager. Guess what?! There were two things said which would probably rocket a company mentioned to a new high, if any mentioned were listed on some exchange. Wait a minute, IW is listed on TSE. Of course the part about Symmetry was never lost by hard core IW stronghold on RB or here on SI. Just reading closely this release, one could easily find that as soon as six network providers of ReFlex will go on line in January, symmetry will be available as a solution to AccessLinkII, and as a matter of fact as a solution to any pager or PCS phone offered by the six, if one will wish for it. Somewhere in between of all of this, a lost soul managed to grab attention for 15 minutes of fame on Stockhouse, trying to turn annual soft holiday market to signs of IW losing momentum, with prediction of "Wal-Mart's low prices" on company's equity. This wasn't much of a surprise, since it was a second attempt to "open eyes" for a small guy, after G&M printed some "I don't know what I am talking about" journalist comparing wireless technology to Brex, mentioning IW by name in it. Today Glenayre has teamed up with Motorola in their words:
"aimed at furthering their mutual goal of expanding the success of ReFLEX(TM) technology-based wireless data, messaging and
interactive devices. These include joint market development activities, collaboration on a common 'over- the-air programming'
protocol...".
This part about joint market development activities must helped us today to spring off from 11.60 and gain modest 6%.
It gave a bit more zest to GEMS with 34% gain. I hope that we will see a movement in January which will help determine what investment community really thinks of IW. Movement supported with news released under IW symbol. Just in case someone would not catch on.
