ONT mentioned--- as a content not technology

HAPPY NEW YEAR LARRY
Other companies that will probably find 2000 a struggle are the broadband content providers. While there are still few companies in this space that have gone public--including Quokka (nasdaq: QKKA) and On2.com (amex: ONT)--most of those that have probably won't see any upside for at least a year. This is not a reflection on the individual companies as much as it is on the lack of market demand. The problem is that high-speed data penetration isn't expected to reach more than 12% of the population by 2004. Without a large audience, content providers won't be able to attract the kind of advertising and e-commerce revenue they will need to stay afloat.

That being said, content providers are still an important part of the broadband equation and shouldn't be ignored. The whole point of having broadband in the first place is to provide consumers with a better viewing experience, and the e-commerce environment and content will need to be developed.

Who knows? Maybe "content" will be the next "one" word.
