gpowell,
Thanks for your clarification.
Your point about whether AOL valuation needs to be clipped,
is a very general question. Of late, there is no concept of valuation if a stock is in an allegedly hot sector. Is there sanity in a company having P/E of 2000+ or company with 10s of billions of dollars in market cap without any earnings? This is part new economy and new model. If you compare with traditional approach the answer is NO.
But it is still not clear what is the new model. Is it
some half brained analysts comments, media hype, day traders
momentum, MM's manipulation, companies effort to manipulate its stocks through press releases or IPO game. I think it is
a combination of all.
If we construct a model based on these parameters and find an upper bound then we can have some handle on what the range will be. But we are still evolving and only time will
shed some light.
