Yeah... and when I was selling Statistical Mulitplexers and Packet Switches in the late 80's we thought routers were a flash in the pan.

I suspect PSInet is well positioned but are only one company and provide only one datapoint. I don't have their data in front of me but I suspect they still had excellent growth and I suspect that that will only accelerate.

Telecomguy, you say you focus on the future yet you're too blinded by the past to see the future. Do you really believe that there isn't a huge opportunity for IP telephony this upcoming decade? If so, then just say it and we'll move on. You're entitled to your view but please don't try to convince me otherwise when it's clear to me that IP provides a much wider range of benefits than today circuit switches and has huge opportunities going forward. In return I will not try to convince you of the demise of circuit switches ... which by the way I wouldn't do. I think circuit switches will continue to be popular but I believe that, as a percentage, the growth in the IP space will be larger. And thus our discussion.... valuations..... CSCO I believe can keep up with expecations... I think the circuit switch vendors have a bigger challenge.
