Carl, The embedded processor market is going through a very large transition. Performance is now close to (or in some cases greater) than desktop processors. The Sony Playstation 2 with a MIPS based processor actually has more compute power than any x86 processor. Designs like K7, Coppermine, Willamette, and Merced are using huge amounts of real estate to achieve incremental performance gains. Scumbria
