Christmas went well. Took a big loop trip and went rooftop to rooftop up the far side of northern california and down the coast, visiting friends and family.

Sugar and I were going to stay longer up in Humboldt and in fact, watch the sun set on 12/31/99 from the lost coast (Cape Mendocino) which is the farthest point west on the west coast. It was too cold to camp. Then too I got to thinking that the farthest point west was Arcata. *THEN I got to thinking that if I wanted to be the 'last guy out please turn off the lights' (last sun rays seen) I'd need to be higher than the beach, and something about every eight feet in elevation equals one mile of view beyond the natural horizon. At that point, I said to myself 'screw it, you shouldn't need a degree in geography just to watch the sunset' <g>.

We may go back up. We do after all, have friends up there who are 'off the grid' and could feed us indefinitely in the event of a y2k meltdown. On te other hand, I need access to my brokerage account and the SI SUNW thread. :)

PS: I'm glad for your mom that you were able to be with her after your grandpa's passing. How old was he? He must have been old. Both of my grandfathers have been gone 30 years.
