The new year is poised to begin sweeping over the globe (~less than two minutes as i'm about to post) and all is quiet in my neighborhood (Ypsilanti, MI). I got some more cash from the ATM with no trouble, checked out the store and things may have been a bit busier than usual, but no more than if people were worried about the weather. They may have been low on bottled water, but who would waste their money stocking up on water purchased in a sotre is beyond me.

The only element of any concern to me right now (and that's only slight concern) is that gasoline prices have risen about 10 cents in the past week or so (if I'm remembering correctly). Not a run, but definitely a jump.

Excellently put Cruiser (post 117).

If I had your knowledge and experience, I suspect I would give a bit more emphasis to the fact that some stuff will fail because of y2k, and it might even cause some noticeable problems. That's just a matter of style thought, and it takes all kinds.

If I had to "bet" on who's predictions about y2k are going to be closest to the mark, I think my money would be on yours.
