Really!! How do they do power control? Soft handoff? Give us data, not assertions (directed at the original author, not you Phat).

A Nokia executive recently stated that because 100 other companies have third-generation wireless patents, Qualcomm doesn't have any more or fewer patent rights than others.

I actually agree with this statement, but so what. They have changed the topic from strength of patents to number of patents. They are completely different things. Whenever someone changes the subject, intentionally or unintentionally, it usually indicates that they have a problem on the original topic.
