Tom, welcome to the thread. I have a cable modem, theoretically capable of prodigious speeds, but in the real world I usually don't get www speeds much faster than I get it from my Mindspring account using a 56Kbs dial up modem. (the exception is downloading large files which is usually a lot faster on cable). The slow down is at the server end- almost nobody has enough servers or storage (including SI). Many owners of URL sites apparently don't really believe that the www is for real. As bandwidth enlarges, these problems will become even more noticeable, especially once sites realize that customers on the www are not willing to wait long, and that improving their service will pay for itself. The boom in servers is just beginning. Now if I can just figure out how to make money from it..<<gg>>
