My apologies, but how does one clear the registry (I use Window 98 SR 1.0)?

I am having severe problems with backups (automatic and user demanded of minimal size {less than 4 KB each} and am very frightened for loss of personal data {years of effort as all my backups now have the same ridiculously small size}.

I obviously need to rebuild and your suggestions are much better than that provided by TC2000. I am not accusing TC2000 of no interest, but their empathy is weak, most probably due to limited resources. I do like their product when it works.
