That's pretty weird about requiring Sun tools. One would expect the free Gnu tool (G++) to be the one in use, and Linux. In *some ways, using Sun only software in schools isn't much better than M$ only. On the other hand, it's a pretty bullish sign for SCSL acceptance by education.

Logon to sun.com sonki and go to SunEd or wherever. There or on the Developer Connection is a way to access the Sun C++ stuff for free. It's there someplace.
