Brian, I have not denied that man could be saved outside of God's word. I do hope you know that God and Jesus are one.
Men, and women, of today, and for quite some time, can know the Gospels through reading the printed word of God. When those pronouncements were made, such did not exist. Man can know the Gospels quite well by study of the written word of God without hearing one word from a preacher, who has been quite often known, to add his own slant to the Word. To know the word of God, one needs only to read that word, and carefully study it. Preachers of any denomination are no closer to God, nor more privy to His word, than any other Christian. I say this with the addition that to be a true Christian, one must give his entire life and soul to Jesus. There are no ifs, ands, or buts.
