"Brian, when and how did Jesus set up teachers. Don't count on the instructions to the disciples. That was 2,000 years ago and does not apply to today Haqi, Here are a few chapters about some of the things you and Brian are discussing." haqi
1 C0r. "13These things we also speak, not in words which man?s wisdom teaches but which the œHoly Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16For ?who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him??œ But we have the mind of Christ."
1 Cor. 3 "0According to the grace of God which was given to me, as a wise master builder I have laid the foundation, and another builds on it. But let each one take heed how he builds on it. 11For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13each one?s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one?s work, of what sort it is. 14If anyone?s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15If anyone?s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire."
1 Cor. 12 "4There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. 6And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. 7But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: 8for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, 9to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by œthe same Spirit, 10to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. 12For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body?whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free?and have all been made to drink œinto one Spirit. 14For in fact the body is not one member but many. 15If the foot should say, ?Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,? is it therefore not of the body? 16And if the ear should say, ?Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,? is it therefore not of the body? 17If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? 18But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. 19And if they were all one member, where would the body be? 20But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. 21And the eye cannot say to the hand, ?I have no need of you?; nor again the head to the feet, ?I have no need of you.? 22No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. 23And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, 24but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, 25that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. 26And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. 27Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. 28And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. 29Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles? 30Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? 31But earnestly desire the œbest gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way."
Christians are still called today. The Pastor may ask you to perform a function in the Church but you still have to feel a calling from the Holy Spirit as to your specialty within the Body of Christ. God does always give each Christian a calling. You may only serve the function of a big toe, but as Paul says every part of the body must function correctly for the whole body to function as a whole.
But for the Grace of God,
