Intel Invades Networking... Excerpt from Motley Fool: 3Com stressed that Intel had simply caused them to take a price cut they had planned to take in June right now on its hub products and that this move would not have a material impact on its earnings. The threat of Intel in the networking world has investors apoplectic, tossing shares of once-beloved names by the wayside. CISCO SYSTEMS (Nasdaq: CSCO) closed in on its 52-week low, down $1 11/16 to $45 5/8; ASCEND COMMUNICATIONS (Nasdaq: ASND) punched through its 52-week low, losing $1 3/4 to $36 1/12; and FORE SYSTEMS (Nasdaq: FORE) took a $1 5/8 spill to $11 3/8 after Schroder Wertheim threw in the towel on the company, saying that pricing in ATM workgroup switching is hurting.
