Steve, Chip hit the high points in answering your question. Yes, Vivus did reach $40 plus as it came to market, but it also split at $50 in the summer of 97, and has been under $2.00 since. What a ride.

I can add that the the impact of Viagra was profound, well beyond the estimates of individual investors, Vivus management, and Wallstreet. Competitive forces hurt this stock deeply to date, and competitive forces remain a primary concern of mine.

For a good snap-shot of Vivus history, spot check this thread and look at the other SI Vivus thread, "Vivus, why the slide". Currently,the Raging Bull Vivus thread is reasonably sane and always active.

This stock, in my opinion, remains highly speculative and any investor should do his own research.
