WSJ - 12/31 Telecom Stocks Up As Investors Focus On New Developments NEW YORK -- Shares of Globalstar Telecommunications Ltd. (GSTRF) and Golden Telecom Inc. (GLDN) were up as investors focused on developments expected to improve their respective businesses. Globalstar continued to garner attention from investors who are pleased with the company's plan to roll out a low-earth orbit satellite-based digital telecommunications system. In a recent conference call the company updated analysts and investors about its plans and everything appears to be on schedule, said Brad Peery Capital's Brad Peery. The satellite system will provide a signal to places where there isn't a signal, giving the company access to new markets. Globalstar shares were up 8 37/64, or 24%, to 44 3/8 on volume of 10.3 million compared with 2.5 million average daily volume. Thursday the shares rose 10.4%.
