"FreeI.net" advertisement on CNN TV network this morning is worrisome to me with regard to the future of AOL. AOL is still dependent on the $21.95 monthly annuity from 20 mln subscribers. At least this is built-in to the present stock multiple. If the free movement (NETZERO, FREEI.NET, etc.) catches on, then all the added services that AOL gives away for free will not overcome the free concept IMHO. I think this is a threat to AOL. The only saving grace is that these sites are hard to use and you have to put up with ads that are more "permanent" compared to AOL. What do you think this will do to the AOL business model?
