Charley, this is and has always been a major problem for me. Why is it that Catholics think they're the "ones"? I grew up as a catholic and this junk was put in my head until I started to think for myself. I realized later that if you can put just enough "fear" (translated mortal sin, purgatory...) and "pride" (bible...gift from the Catholic Church)you are able to control.

I thank God I am free from the grasp of this institution. For the couple of Catholics I know today whom I would consider "saved" there are hundreds and hundreds that I have personally met and know that have NO IDEA what it is to be a child of God; not to mention the millions that have headed off into eternity, without a clue. This is something no church should be proud of. And it's not as if the Catholic Church has ever repented. They continue to preach false doctrine and thus continue to cause and add to one's blindness.

I'll add that anyone who thinks they "market" the truth is very mixed up. "Truth" is a person and that person is Christ. You would be a lot better off if you eliminated the "add-ons" of Mary, the saints, the Pope's 'infallibility' etc. All it does is take away from the simplicity of the gospel and cause "mass" (yeah, that was intended as a pun) confusion.

Anyone who thinks they're a "leg" up in this "race" because they happen to be born Catholic, Jewish or whatever is sadly mistaken. God is no respecter of persons or institutions. Humility goes a lot further than pride.
